5:45 AM – Guy wakes up and tries to quietly get dressed and tip toe out of the motorhome in order to get his ‘sunrise’ shot. He returns frozen just after seven….the wife is still snoring 💤! He got some great pictures and although we thought that there weren’t many people up there overnight, he was joined by four other sunrise photographers.
Early start then… We zigzagged our way back down the hill and I thought we were heading straight to Lom on a normal road, but Guy had found another scenic route. Many tunnels, many kilometres long. One even had a roller shutter fire door half way through! Then the road, well, it started off ok, then turned into gravel track and not a very wide one. I couldn’t find us on the map so decided to ask Siri where we were …”finding route to London.”🙄 It was stunningly beautiful all around though, so many waterfalls and rivers running in great torrents everywhere.
It was a warm sunny day and you’d have thought we’d have found somewhere better for lunch than a supermarket car park …it was quite a nice one! 😂
Lom was a lovely little place, like a Swiss ski village really. We came across our first stave church in the centre. There are quite a few in this region and I think this is one of the smaller ones. We couldn’t get over the creosote smell – no wonder there were ‘no smoking’ signs everywhere.
Unfortunately, there was no overnight parking in Lom, so we’ve had to travel a bit further. Parked in a picnic spot in the woods by what can only be described as a raging river..had to close the vents so that we can hear each other.
