We left the campsite reluctantly this morning – the weather was positively miserable! Drove up to Girona and managed to park in the only suitable place within the city. It seems to have had an upgrade since we were last here and now has an automatic barrier and proper markings. Previously, it had an attendant, who although very friendly, talked at you and gave out various confusing gate codes.

Walked into the old town via the red bridge over the River Onyar and up to the cathedral. We couldn’t remember if we’d been inside before, but at €7.80 each, we decided the Catholic Church has had quite enough of our money this trip! We walked around the town walls instead, which are brilliant.

Needing coffee, we had to, of course, visit La Fabrica where all the cyclists go. It’s a very atmospheric place and the food coming out looked amazing, I was quite upset that I’d already had lunch, so had to settle for cake!

Girona is cycling mad and seems to have sprouted several more bike shops since our last visit. Now, these aren’t your average Raleigh Chopper shops with spanners and inner tubes in the background. They are designer ‘spaces’ with about four items for sale. Guy was in dreamworld and has seen his new ‘must have’ at about 15k! I had to show him the bank balance to bring him back down to earth.
Seriously, how on earth can a bike be worth that much? Someone, somewhere, is making a fortune.
Barbers next, and that looked like a very swanky place too.

I had a walk round while Guy got a designer haircut, then we had to duck into a bar to avoid getting soaked. Dos Vermuts went down nicely then dragged ourselves home for dinner.
