Hardest days walking I’ve ever done …I think there’s some secret insurance policy I don’t know about and my husband is trying to bump me off!
Thought we’d get the train up to Kleiner Scheidegg – a mountain pass with amazing views of the Eiger, Mönch and the Jungfrau. It was an hours wait at the station in Grindelwald and looking busy, so we decided to start walking. The paths are brilliant, but it was uphill at such a steep gradient, it felt like treading water. All this in the red hot sun. After only two miles that seemed like twenty, we caved in and waited for the next train.

All the posters at the tiny station said to buy your ticket on the train but there were no machines on board and no one asked for money – good result! We would never have made it …it was miles away.
Really fabulous views at the top but quite a lot of people around. We walked a bit further up to a man made lake and saw a mini avalanche along the way.

2:30pm – what to do? Seemed sensible to try and walk back to Grindelwald – it was downhill – but it was not sensible! Nearly 8 miles trying to stop yourself sliding downhill – thank God for the stick! Meanwhile, Guy was not thanking God for his black T-shirt 😂

The best bit was soaking our feet in an ice cold stream.
Back at the van, we’ve both had a power nap, then eaten the whole contents of the fridge. I just hope we are able to move tomorrow 😬
