Quiet night at the power station. I had thought we were coming around the coast to Pula this morning but Guy had added several blue dots to the map inland, so off we went exploring. Firstly, a hill town called Pican to see the Benkovski waterfall. We never found it as it was marked wrongly on google maps. Saw a poster for Slap Sopot though, another waterfall, so we went to see that instead. Had to walk for a while and it wasn’t signposted so we asked a local woman who confused us further. Found it in the end. A tiny path came to an abrupt halt on a cliff edge – no warning, nothing! You could only see it by standing right on the edge opposite. Guy managed to get some photos by sticking his arm out! Back to the van, the short way this time. We had lunch in a beautiful old village called Gracisci. Walked up to the church with Rufus to see the stunning view of surrounding countryside. Two old ladies dressed in black were studiously sweeping the pathway up and Rufus, well, he decided to go to the toilet just as we got level with them. 🙄🤭That dog sure picks his moments!! They didn’t seem too disgruntled fortunately. On to Pazin, where we had planned to do a forty minute walk down into a gorge but part of the path was closed due to the amount of water last year. We walked over the bridge instead and had a look at where the zip line goes from – nutters! There’s a huge cavelike hole here that is supposed to have inspired Dante’s Inferno – not a good place to fall in. On to Pula towards the end of the day – just at the point where you don’t want what you think is a little town to be a huge city with skyscrapers, roadworks, one-way streets. We’ve ended up at the marina just before Guys head exploded! 🤯😡🤬
