Pula, well, we’re not ever so impressed with it. The amphitheatre is great, but apart from that we didn’t think the town was up to much. It appeared quite scruffy compared to anywhere else in Croatia we’ve been to. Managed to park easily though, thankfully, on the seafront almost opposite the main sites. It was odd inside the amphitheatre as through the arched windows you could see cranes and planes going by. Two things together two millennia apart!!We drove up the coast a little way to a lovely little towm called Fazana, famous for its sardines I think. Had lunch, then a walk round. Drove on a bit more with the hope of finding somewhere discreet to park. Found our spot near a place called Peroj. Parked on the quay to start with but one of the fishermen was gutting his catch opposite and the fishy small was a bit strong. Moved around the bay to a less odorous spot and spent the rest of the afternoon watching the world go by. An English couple stopped to talk for a while – he was a ships pilot on the Thames estuary – funny, the people you meet! Meanwhile, Rufus barked a “clear off, I live here” at every passing dog. Beautiful sunset but it got really cool after sixish. We’ve had jacket potatoes and the last but one of the beef daube out of the freezer to warm up.
