We went on a little boat trip this morning across to the island of Korčula, about half an hour away.
A little boat does a return run from the campsite pier three times a week. There were four older couples already on board when we got there and once we got on, the boat left early.
We’ve got used to seeing car drivers using mobile phones (even one in each hand) but didn’t expect the boat captain to be allowing the boat to steer itself!
One of the passengers had difficulty sitting still and kept opening lockers, and generally being a pest. Another one decided to remove his socks – the smell nearly caused me to jump overboard! Then there was the coughing and throat clearing – either they were all on twenty Woodbines a day or we’ve just put ourselves in a Covid hotspot. Maybe we’re just not used to being around people anymore 😬
Korčula Town was lovely. Palm trees lined the seafront and the grey stone medieval town was just busy enough to have some atmosphere. It’s supposed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo – he’s certainly got his name on plenty of cafes so it must be true!
Guy went up to the belfry of the cathedral to get some photos – I opted out as there were quite a few people going up and I was thinking it’d probably be a spiral staircase. Wise move I think – he said it was packed.

Everyone was back on the boat before us again for the return journey. It was a different vessel and had a few outside seats but we missed the early check-in. 😂

We spent an hour on the shingle beach this afternoon as it was quite warm. Even had a swim, although it was a bit fresh to say the least. I have a feeling that might be the last one of the year.
