Drove further south today, back to Koróni as we thought we might have missed some of it last September due to difficult parking. We had!

Found a better place to park this time, on the far side of the town. We went first to the citadel, which was really lovely. It’s signposted as a castle, but apart from a few ruins it’s mainly a group of whitewashed chapels and churches occupied by a few nuns.
There are flower gardens everywhere and coupled with the abundance of wild flowers around at the moment, it was a beautiful place with great views of the town and out to sea. At the very top, there was a swarm of big flying ant type things. We were instantly covered and I was still shaking them out of my dress two hours later – yak!
The town itself is also a lovely, vibrant place. Shops, cafes and fish restaurants in the warren of streets and on the seafront.
Whitewashed steps everywhere to keep us fit and, as usual, plenty of cats in bins, fighting over scraps and all looking ‘well ‘ard’! Sure one had a permanent grin tattooed on his face!

Parked on too much of a slope to eat lunch so we followed the main road towards Methóni and found a brilliant parking spot on a beach just north of Finikoúnda. There are a few vans here, but hardly anyone around. Had a couple of hours on the beach, now trying to de-sand everything…particularly ears! 😬
