A bit more meandering alongside the Dordogne river this morning. We came across La Roque-Gageac, a stunning little village built under overhanging cliffs. It has a scary looking staircase built into the side of said cliffs which takes you up to the remains of an old fort. I nearly had a wobble as we reached the top and the steps became a bit steep and uneven. Great views all round though and a film show behind a chain-link curtain – odd! đŸ˜‚ This place must be rammed in the summer but not a soul around today.

Making our way via the scenic route to Villeneuve-sur-Lot, we then came across Monpazier and felt we had to stop and have a look around. The town is one of the best preserved bastides – or fortified towns. After coming in through a stone archway it’s cobbled streets lead to an amazing square with kind of arcades around the edges. Again, almost completely empty.

On the narrow winding roads to Villeneuve then and a stop at Auchan to stock up with coffee. Less than half the price of the uk which is more than can be said for diesel which is approaching €2 per litre in some areas. đŸ˜¬
Parked just outside now in Temple-sur-Lot. Another free spot for motorhomes…might be traffic rather than birds to wake us up tomorrow though!

Fab. You do see some beautiful places. X
