Here we are at Santa’s official terrestrial residence, just inside the Arctic Circle. Must look really beautiful in winter, but it’s a bit like an out of season Centre Parcs at the minute. I never knew Santa had so much stuff – he’s even got a rafting centre here and the Sami equivalent of Mc Arthur Glen. There are a lot of shops selling really expensive stuff …great for kids but all a bit of a rip off.
The poor Huskies are all in circular cages going nuts. I hope they get let out regularly 😢
On the way here we stopped at Kemi for lunch and a look at the Lumilinna Snow Castle place which is supposed to be partly open all year now – looked deserted and well beyond our budget. Kemi itself was a bit industrial – not picturesque unfortunately.
Any doubts as to how cold it gets up here, were swept away when we stopped to fill up with water and found the tap was in a heated cupboard! The sun sets after midnight tonight …we are gradually going to bed later and getting up later. Starting to look like Al Pacino in Insomnia!
