After a lovely quiet night on the beach, we set off for Lefkada this morning. Crossing over the causeway to get on to the island, we came to a standstill as the road bridge was up to let the boats pass through. It was quite odd watching yachts line up in a traffic jam.
First stop was Lidl. All seemed really strange as it was full of Dutch and English people doing their shopping. We’ve only really heard Greek voices for the last four weeks.
We then drove less than a mile down the eastern side of the island to an Acsi campsite. The reception was all closed up, and the owner wasn’t particularly welcoming – I feel bad that we don’t really know any Greek and she didn’t speak English, but a smile wouldn’t have gone amiss. When we eventually got to use the washing machines, they just kept on washing for ages – not the usual 40 minute quick wash. The ever resourceful Mr Bramley downloaded the instruction manual in English so he could get them to rinse and spin!
Once we’d pegged everything out, we set off for Lefkada town a couple of miles away. The area has lots of lagoons with the accompanying mosquitoes and it was quite overcast and muggy so out came the Autan again.

The town was ok – nothing special, apart from a nice wooden bridge over a canal.
On the way back along the dusty sometimes pavement, sometimes road, we were watching a man who seemed to be taking a goat for a walk – what I should’ve been doing was watching where I was going! I did an embarrassing nose dive, covering myself in dust and grazing both hands, knee and elbow 🙄
I looked like I’d been in a war by the time we got back to the campsite. Good job I shave my legs like Guy to prevent gravel rash. 😂🙄
Now, the phones have gone off with a weather alert so we have two loads of not quite dry washing to deal with.
The clothes airer is now somehow wedged over the table fully loaded with clothes, sheets, duvet cover etc. The fan is underneath them on maximum, and me and Guy are wedged into the last corner of space with a bottle of wine and some chocolate! 🤣🤣🤣
