Oh what a night we just had! You win some, you lose some, but that quiet little harbour with the boats bobbing around turned into party central at 10pm. The bar across the water gradually increased its volume over four hours which we could just about cope with as the music was ok. However, as they quietened down, the nice Russian lady on the boat behind us brought some ‘hangers on’ back and partied till dawn. Russian rap music at super intense volume? Nah – not for me!
Feeling a bit grumpy this morning, we paid £10 for the port parking and our ‘great night out’! 🤣
Drove about a mile and managed to park at a ‘free’ beach for a swim. This place was tiny, and from the road all you could see was a thousand umbrellas. Three different gateways to three different beach bars, but somewhere almost hidden in the middle was a tiny path to the sea – which, thankfully, is still free at the time of writing. It beggars belief! Lovely swim in turquoise water though!

Drove further south to Demre, which seemed, at first, to be completely cloaked in plastic poly tunnels. Apparently they grow tomatoes and citrus fruits here, and lots of them by the look of it.

Just inland, there are some more Lycean rock tombs at Myra which can be clearly seen from the road. The detail on these things from so long ago is absolutely incredible!

Out to the coast then at Çayağzi beach, which is known as a place where Loggerhead turtles can be seen. We can’t believe how many we saw around the moored up boats – they were amazing. Some really big ones too. One actually popped its head out of the water ..I think he was hoping that Guy had food rather than a camera.

It seemed a reasonably quiet area next to a river, but we daren’t risk staying overnight with all those boats around – need sleep tonight.

We’ve driven a bit further on close to a place recommended by a couple we met today. On a very quiet beach but amazingly, party boat has just put in an appearance! 🤣🤣🤣As long as he stays out at sea!
