8A1881AB-5AAA-4B63-B35D-73A261AFCCF1Continuing with Guy’s “Boys Own” adventure, we’ve come into the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella (no, I can’t pronounce it either!) National Park in search of Musk Oxen. There’s supposed to be quite a few of them here – they were bought in from Greenland in the 1940’s. Unfortunately, they’ve not put in an appearance today. ☹️
It does feel like proper wilderness up here, but there’s a huge flat place to park that sits on top of an old iron ore mine, then it’s a short walk up a steep hill to the Snøhetta viewpoint. The wind was so fierce, it was quite hard walking against it.
At the top, the viewpoint is a work of art…or rather an architectural masterpiece. It won the World Building of the Year in 2011. It’s a big wood and steel box which is glass fronted and overlooks the the mountains. Inside, it’s all carved wood with steps to sit on and a big log burner in the middle – amazing. The ‘twisted fire starter’ was in his element bunging extra logs on. We sat there for ages, looking at the view and listening to the wind roar.2383E3C1-9784-43EA-AC2F-865DD080A2DD7867FFC2-29E9-474E-AE5A-3F868017AD9DB3B18AB6-7DC7-4220-8D5F-CA7D9481A101
On the way here this morning, we stopped in Oppdal, another ski resort, so that we could go to a bank and put in a large contribution to the Norwegian Police pension fund….or in other words, pay Guy’s hefty speeding fine for being 7mph over the limit. 😬🙄The less said about it, the better…forgot to tell you about that one Dad! 🏎A9313147-2AA3-4CC6-9701-E2B24D304B7D71FFB80A-4C34-4609-84C1-EC81A4D752CE
