A lot of faffing around before we left the campsite this morning – mainly because some idiot drained the fresh water rather than the grey water 🙄
Guy had filled up the fresh tank with water that was supplied on the pitch and then we drove to the service area to drain. It’s often my job to open the locker and turn the valve to drain whilst Guy manoeuvres the van into the right spot. I’ve done this so many times and I know which tap is which, so it couldn’t possibly have been me …I am innocent! 😇
A few bemused campers were watching us go backwards and forwards as we realised the mistake just before leaving.
We made our way up into the hills to avoid a scrappy bit of coast and ended up on a single track road somewhere at the back of Sagunto, climbing steadily higher. We checked with a local man that the viewpoint was ok to drive up to, which it was, but we’d forgotten it was Saturday, so every man and his dog was out for a walk. The tiny carpark was full of cars, but there was thankfully just room to turn around.
Managed to find a little pull-in just a bit further down and had lunch on the worst slope ever. Just seeing the angle of the coffee in the cups made us dizzy!
Set off with boots on and walking pole for what turned out to be less than a two mile walk! It definitely felt more like four or five as it was so hot – completely the wrong time of day once again.
Spectacular view from up there though, down to Sagunto and right over to Valencia. Shame it was so hazy in the distance.

We found an easier route down and skirted around the back of Valencia coming out at El Saler just to the south. We’ve parked here in the dunes several times but apparently it’s no longer allowed overnight, so we had to go further south in order to find somewhere suitable.

Landed at El Perelló and parked in a beach carpark facing the sea. Surrounded by villas and high rise apartment complexes but most seem to be empty. Went for a walk and hardly a soul around, but come 6:30pm it was like an Italian passagieta with families and couples walking along the prom.
