A lovely quiet night next to the sea. Drove along to the next town looking for non existent services, then gave up and turned inland towards a town called Modica. Along the way, a transit van came haring around a bend, halfway across the white line (as is the norm here!) and bang went our wing mirror. I was looking at the map at the time – nearly fell out of my skin. The indicator is bust, but fortunately they’re still working on the back and front,so we can limp by until we get home. Guy went to look for the orange plastic cover just as ‘transit van man’ came hurtling back. He must’ve seen Guy’s ‘angry eyes’ as he was very apologetic which was really surprising. Not much we can do about it really – won’t be worth claiming or our premium will go up big time next year. We consoled ourselves by buying a bar of chocolate each from Modica as it’s famous for it. Whilst in the shop, we noticed it was a wine merchants as well, so decided to ask about the dessert wine we’d had at our anniversary meal. The nice man waxed lyrical for ages about this wine that comes from a tiny little island called Pantelleria and suddenly we were walking up the road with it. 😁🥂We then drove on to Ragusa, another stunning town. Stopped at some crummy services along the way so we could just park up for another free night tonight.👍Guy went off to get a haircut 👏before he turns into Starsky! He was gone ages and I had just decided he daren’t come back, when he appeared with nearly all his hair disappeared. Looks good though – it’s better than the Lisbon cut and streets ahead of the Mohican he once had by mistake in France! We walked up to the old town with Rufus. Another beautiful church that looks like a three tier wedding cake. There were a lot of steps but dog managed really well. He got a few crisps as a reward! We have found out from Guy’s Mum that the little purple and white flowers we took a picture of yesterday are actually capers – well the buds are. We would never have known but now I think about you could see them.
