Looks like I got my dates wrong on the last blog – I’m struggling on what day it is never mind dates!
Anyway, yesterday (Saturday) Guy got up early to try and join the Palafrugell massif on their Saturday club run. Unfortunately, when he got to the cafe at what used to be the usual time, there was no-one there. He was either late, early, or they saw him coming and scarpered! 🤣
Nonetheless, he got seventy miles in – mainly negotiating around sheep and came back a hot sweaty mess.

Meanwhile, I did the flat route to town again and just got back before the real heat started.
We’ve only got one bucket – it’s new and collapsible. Perfect for hand washing, but Guy wanted to use it to empty the drain. Luckily, by the afternoon, the drain smelt so bad we had to take it off the pitch and up to the service area to empty it properly.
We now have another new bucket from the camp shop, which is being kept, I hope, purely for drain purposes!
Ray has been almost silent since Friday night. We think he has had a fall out with the other neighbour OR the campsite staff came and told him to be quiet! 🤣
We went to Calau in the evening – our favourite restaurant. Got there just before opening time at 7pm and joined the queue. Luckily we got straight in but the queue outside just grew and grew as the night wore on.

Note to self: never let Guy loose with buffet style tapas when he’s been cycling! So many sticks to add up!

This morning, we got up early- ish and did a six and a half mile loop to the Sunday market, mainly looking for a cheap bucket! 🙄Unfortunately, we’re still wading through the last lot of fruit and vegetables but it’s definitely the place to be Sunday morning. Everyone has a shopping trolley loaded with groceries for the week!

Here’s a revelation to us. There’s now a €6.50 charge levied by most Spanish banks when you get cash out of an atm. We don’t usually bother with cash at all, but thought we’d get a bit out for the market – needless to say the cancel button was pressed! Used to be €2.50 or free if you pick the right bank. At least there are no charges from the UK side.
Afternoon on the beach. The sea was very rough and I’d forgotten my ‘special’ sea shoes 🤣..so I sat and sweltered while Guy went for a cooling dip. Humid today – I think there’s possibility of a storm tomorrow.
