It was super cold this morning ..waited for the van to warm up before surfacing, but it never happened. The gas wasn’t on! Not sure how that occurred but green and blue on the control panel aren’t very obvious! How bout red and green – stop and go? would make more sense.
By the time we emerged into the morning sunshine it had warmed up somewhat. We walked up to the town – billed as one of the most beautiful on the edge of the gorge and we could see why!
There were a few shops and cafes open but there were probably only six tourists in the whole place – ourselves included. Above the town there is a star strung between the cliffs on either side, supposedly originally put there by a returning crusader. Too high up for a photo though.
Had to do the church which was perched high up on the rocks – many slippery cobbled steps but only took about twenty minutes. Good views from the top.

After lunch, we started driving west on the slow roads towards the Luberon valley. This being Provence, it was a beautiful drive through fields full of lavender which you could still smell faintly even though the flowers are long gone. Grapevines everywhere too.
Found our way eventually to the little hill town of Gordes – another very picturesque place, but this is obviously a big money area. On our wander in this evening, looking in one of the many estate agents windows, certainly opened our eyes to just how expensive property can be in some parts of France.
Just had a visit from a couple of wild boar again …Guy is busy trying to set up ‘boar-cam’, but I think they’ve gone home for tea!
