Drove off the island of Pag this morning after visiting a tiny old fort that was overrun with cats đ. Fortunately, Rufus had chosen to stay in the van, otherwise he would have thought it was drive-in breakfast!
Arrived in Nin and parked up but couldnât see any of the beautiful sandy beaches described in the Rough Guide. Nice old town thatâs kind of on an island with a tiny 9th century church. There was a collapsed bridge over the river that had been destroyed in the floods last year – looked like the whole town was under water on the photograph.
We eventually found a beach after driving around for a bit …it was so hot we were glad to be back in the motorhome with the air con on! There was parking at the side so we had a great afternoon with a stunning view. Had a swim and Guy had a little snore. Decided to move the van a hundred yards or so in the evening on to a gravel area so that we were further out of the way. Thought we were set for the night, had dinner and Guy had just gone to take some photos when Mrs Inspector Lady called round. She made a note of the number plate and said no camping allowed – you need to move or the Police will be here in ten minutes. There was a problem in that Guy had disappeared in to the dark with the keys! âSound the hornâ seemed like the only option. Now they think weâre noisy as well as honest travellers! On the nearest campsite now – welcomed in with a glass of Schnapps by the friendly owner. Wonder if he sends his wife out to look for motorhomes pretending sheâs an inspector?
