Walked along the beach again this morning to a huge lake near El Palmar. The weather was quite warm and sunny apart from a bit of mist that kept rolling in off the sea. The place is billed as a big nature reserve and we’ve been here before a couple of years ago. We didn’t really see much then and the same goes for today.
There are boat trips out into the lake but everyone sits on the edge of the boat looking inwards at each other which seems a bit odd to us. Not sure how you see any wildlife without getting a crick in your neck! Very busy though, and as the boats depart from right next to a main road, it’s all a bit manic!

We retreated back to a smaller lake near the sea and Guy got a few photos of a Kentish Plover, Common Greenshank and a Sardinian Warbler! Having a bird identification app does help! 🤣
photos to follow if the WiFi ever works 🙄

Hunger drove us back to the van for lunch and afterwards it seemed warm enough to go and sit on the beach. As we walked on to it, the mist became fog, half the horizon just disappeared, then it all just rolled in around us ..so weird! Thinking the sun would surely come back out, we lay down and shivered for a few minutes. No chance!

I still think it’s half sea mist and half pollution from all the explosions in the city. There’s definitely a bit of a brown tinge to it in places.

It hasn’t bothered the two English couples parked opposite who’ve sat in their chairs in the car park for the whole week! I’m not sure they know that there’s a beach 30 steps away and they had no idea what all the noise in Valencia was!
