We got up earlyish this morning and walked the three miles along the Danube into Passau. What a lovely place, all painted in ice cream colours with cruise ships moored all along one side, ready for trips to Vienna or Bratislava.

The old town is situated on a pointed peninsula where the Danube meets the River Inn. Speaking of the Danube – we had a revelation today, when once again the Donau appeared where the Danube should be! They are of course, one and the same thing..duh 🙄!!

The town had lots of beautiful buildings, not least, Sankt Stephan’s huge copper domed cathedral. Inside was just as impressive…if a little over the top.

Seemed a long walk back to the van and we were ravenous by the time we arrived.
This afternoon we motored through Austria on the A roads whilst they were Sunday quiet. First through the middle of Linz then bypassing just south of Vienna and into Hungary. There was a bit of snow by the side of the roads along the way and some heavy pollution that you wouldn’t expect in Austria’s lovely clean air!

Now parked up just outside Sopron, which sounds really nice – we’ll explore tomorrow.
Well done to Callum today for completing the Manchester Marathon. Pity the tracking system was out of sync, so we were phoning to congratulate him whilst he was still running! 🤣
