Getting very confused as to where we’ve been and where we are going on these islands. As we can’t pronounce most of the names of the places it makes them difficult to remember too.
After a little walk this morning, we filled up and drained etc, then set off on a scenic drive, first up to Harstad on the island of Hinnoya then back south following the coast to get a ferry from Refsnes to Flesnes. We just missed a boat as we turned up, so had time for lunch before the next one came in. There was no ticket office; you just pay as you drive on. It was a nice crossing as there was a warm breeze blowing.4E055E32-928D-47AD-80DA-4D695B25A467
At the other side we crossed over the island (think we are still on Hinnoya) and parked on a pier opposite the town of Sortland.3D242F4A-8B3F-4F77-B5F8-C91F7D767F5A
Needing a walk, we crossed over the huge bridge to the other side to get to the ‘blue town’ as it’s nicknamed. An artist bloke in the ‘90’s thought it would make the town look better if everyone painted their house a certain shade of blue. It didn’t look like many people were impressed with the idea and I have to say that Sortland has no redeeming features other than a good road out.
On a positive note, it’s been warm and sunny most of the day and we’re parked almost in the sea with great views.D8E63F24-F273-469B-A09B-2102852CAC16
