Left our nice friendly campsite this morning and set off for Slunj. It was a lovely place with waterfalls that ran through private gardens, so in order to get a more close up view we had to pay to go through some cafe gardens. It was a bit of a prelude to the Plitvice Lakes really, but the whole area was overrun with tour buses and the set up seemed a bit twee and unreal. Moved on to Plitvice against the advice of the campsite man who said we should see them later if possible as they are incredibly busy. As it was overcast, we thought it was a good day to do it as Rufus would be ok in the van with the fan on. The car park was rammed. We ended up parking in one of the coach spaces much to the coach drivers disgust but there really was nowhere else. It was all very well organised but I have never in my life seen so many Chinese tourists in one place …all posing with selfie sticks. The problem was that some of the bridges were very narrow and they were stopping every ten seconds for photos. A couple of times I thought I was going to end up in the water. Suppose I wouldn’t have minded too much as it looked so clear. The whole place was stunningly beautiful – think the photos speak for themselves! On a campsite down the road now with feet up. We’ve walked miles as we chose to follow the lake back on foot rather than queue to get on a very packed bus!
