Garry Beach

Filled up with water at the campsite then set off back to Tarbert which is the only place that has a chemical toilet emptying facility. Needed three £1 coins for the privilege…gone are the days when you could ‘spend a penny’!

Good road straight up to Stornaway – not much to see, but we’ll come back down the west coast so hopefully won’t miss anything.

Managed to fill up with LPG and then went to Tesco’s for a big shop 😂 Stornaway itself was a bit of a disappointment. It had a nice castle (Lews), but the rest of it was a bit drab. We walked out towards Arnish Point Lighthouse but it was a really grey day so decided to turn around and move on. We’d left all the lunch pots in the sink in our eagerness to get out and Guy had the idea of half filling with water and washing up liquid whilst we did our 20 minute drive…it would be the equivalent to a ‘sports wash’ apparently. 🤣

We’ve come up a long B road to Garry Beach – wow! 🤩 Got a parking spot overlooking the field of sheep and then the white sand beach. Went for a little walk, loads of rocks and crazy waves. Met a photographer from Arnold!!!…how mad is that? Then, just before the rain came, we saw another eagle. Blowing a gale now, which I think is pretty standard for this area. 😂
