Thought we were in a very remote spot last night, but this morning, just as we were getting our coats on to explore, a coach load of pensioners pulled up! 😂

With the tide being out, we went to see the cave we couldn’t reach yesterday. Such a spectacular bit of coast this – really beautiful…if only we could have just a tiny bit of sun?

Drove back to Stornaway to get some phone signal and lunch then got back on the A road and drove right up to the northern tip of the island – the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse…the windiest point in the UK. Saw another seal and a few more swooping eagles but just not fast enough with the camera.

Back down slightly then to Port of Ness, where it threw it down with rain for a change.

Heading south down the west coast, we stopped off to see a sheiling, which is a stone croft. It said on the sign to open the door and let yourself in, so I did. What I didn’t know was that there was also a door on the other side and Guy had done the same…nearly fell out of my skin! Some Highland coos to see next, looked like they might need their fringe trimming 😂

Two more beaches after that; Dalbeig and Dalmore, both really lovely but no overnight parking.

Finally, just to round the day off nicely, we’ve come up a seat grabbing 15% gradient hill to park at the Callanish Standing Stones. They looked amazing, especially with a bit of a sunset, but there’s some weirdo wandering around in a kilt 😬- hope he’s not thinking of sacrificing any goats tonight!

    1. Thanks Catherine. Hope you and Steve are both well. This Highland weather is taking a bit of getting used to – I don’t feel like I’ve got enough waterproof gear 😂xx
