After leaving the campsite this morning, we drained all the fresh water we’d filled up with as it was a strange shade of beige. It was pumped out of a well so probably really fresh but maybe full of sand.
After some debate, we drove to a campsite just south of Tallinn. Although it was raining on and off, we did two loads of washing and pegged it out in hope! Coats on and a walk to the train station …timed it just right to get the train into the city for €2 each way.

Walking through the old town was like being on the set of a Robin Hood film. People everywhere, dressed in medieval costumes and market stalls filling the squares selling furs, skins and knitted paraphernalia. Women were handing out fresh bread rolls from wicker baskets and the hot sweetened almonds were amazing. D9E4561D-6C35-45B6-95D2-AED4EA9F357B

Stuck our heads in the onion domed cathedral just in time for service. Priests were walking in and out of elaborate gold doors like that clock on Camberwick Green or Trumpton. Then the crowd got pushed back for the incense swinging thing. Looked like a fire hazard to me, there were sparks flying far too close to all that synthetic gold material.

We went for a drink in the Depeche Mode bar …apparently world famous and only plays their music. Once they’d played “Your own personal Jesus” my favourite, we got bored and left. 😬

Feels a lot more European up here. That may be because of the cruise ships coming in, but most of the locals seem to speak English too. We are struggling to learn any Estonian, as we’ve gone from the land of too many consonants to the land of too many vowels!
