Minor panic for Mr Bramley this morning as he thought we were starting to sink in the sand as we drove off the beach. It was ok – no shovels or Wilco’s doormats required. 😅
Husoy is a tiny little island off a bigger island called Senja, just below Tromso. It took us a while to get here though, because as with anywhere in Norway, you have to go the long way round unless you get the ferry.
Stopped for a coffee en route, then came through two very long tunnels which only seemed to be one car wide…would’ve been a nightmare if anything coming the opposite way. They were proper tunnels too – just rock, no lights!
We’ve got a place on the harbour with electricity, water etc for £15 which ain’t bad for these parts. So picturesque, with colourful boats, water like glass and huge green jagged edged mountains all around with a bit of snow here and there. It’s actually been warm today though, shorts weather even. Had lunch outside then walked round the island and up to the tiny lighthouse. We sat on a rock for a long time watching the birds and we’re quite convinced we saw Puffins with their orange beaks but couldn’t get close enough for a decent photo.
Tonight we hope to stay up late 😂😂😂…to see the midnight sun. Although it’s definitely been light at midnight the last few nights, the sun has hidden behind rocks. We think we’ll see it if we walk back up to the lighthouse so fingers crossed. Yawning already. Not good at late nights unless I’ve had several rum n cokes but don’t think the locals would appreciate my singing.
