I woke up in the middle of the night (broad daylight) to the smell of burgers cooking..how weird. Apparently, in Summer, the lorry drivers prefer to get their miles done during the night as the roads are emptier, so probably it was just someone having their lunch at 3am!
We drove around the fjord and on to Tromso – the only place resembling a city up here. What a difference a bit of sunshine makes…it was lovely.7CFD5BB3-0122-42A7-8C5B-978C7D8D5149
We did a bit of food shopping first, after I had researched the cheapest place. Well, I think we had about two baskets full ..£50ish! Good job the cupboards and freezer are stocked up.
Although the supermarket was just along the coast from the town centre we used Google Maps to get to the parking. It took us through what we thought was a tunnel but turned out to be a whole underground road system complete with roundabouts! Needless to say we ended up on the wrong side of the island! 😂

Had a lovely walk around Tromso in the sunshine. Saw the famous Hurtigruten boat come in. Didn’t think much to the fish/meat on some of the menus…whale? seal? – I think not! Back to the van for avocado on toast.849763C4-45F1-46B6-B29D-939E60B709F8
Had to drive back the way we came so that we could get on the road for Senja. Very scenic all the way. Found some parking on a beach, another walk and then it was actually warm enough to sit outside and have dinner.EF7D93D4-09C3-49B5-B378-96E77373C9F5
