A quiet night in the fortress carpark, although we were both still wide awake till about 2am…think we were just expecting to get moved on. We set off for the Krka National Park, calling first at Burnum where we took the wrong footpath to see the Manojlovac rapids…found them eventually, just wasn’t very well signposted. Next, was the Krka monastery, where we had to buy a ticket for the whole park. We drove down to it and got met in the carpark by a woman who said she was here to show us round. We started to panic as we thought we’d booked ourselves on some kind of guided tour, which we didn’t have time for. She never stopped talking and whisked us round the place in five minutes flat – it was only when we passed the dining room, we realised she was trying to get us out of the way before lunch. On to Roski Slap falls, where the same thing happened. Immediately, as we parked a girl came out giving us full explanation of where to go and even where to stand and which way to look to see the falls at their best. They were quite distant really…time for lunch. Rufus has had a day off as he was in pain last night after his mammoth walk around the castle. Thank God we have tablets for him, we felt really bad about it but generally he leads the way when he comes out with us…it’s only later that his arthritis thing kicks in. Lastly, we did a mammoth walk to Skradinski Buk. Truly spectacular waterfalls that you can actually swim in, in the summer months. We walked all the way round, then marched back at speed to our sleeping dog.
