Tootled around all day really, driving from one place to the next. I think this is one of our favourite bits of Greece as it’s quite a wild rugged landscape but with some beautiful white pebble beaches and turquoise sea.
Drove to Kokkala first, further down on the east coast. Not much there, so inland to Láyia, where there are quite a few of the traditional tower houses. Funny, how they’re building new ones in the same style, but with uneven roofs so they look like new ruins! There’s a beautiful little church in the square but the priest (after opening up) was doing his work in the little cafe opposite. We had a coffee, and got talked into piece of orange cake by the owner…it was divine!

Crossed over to the west coast then with the aim of spending the day and night in Yeroliménas. Unfortunately, the whole village seemed to be being dug up! They appeared to be putting drains in among other things. Guy was taking photos of the diggers (lad stuff), when all the workmen started showing off. One nearly tipped his digger over sideways in an attempt to demonstrate his skills!
Further up the road, tortoise rescue number 3 took place, although he was crossing the road quite quickly and used the green cross code.

Limeni was next. Love this beautiful place but parking is very difficult. Had to leave the van in a lay-by on the main road and walk down into the tiny port. The sea here is an unbelievable colour.

Seemed to be nowhere to park for miles around after that. We pulled in at a tiny beach, but there were a few odd comings and goings so gave up. Another mile away was a taverna that allows free parking so looks like we’re eating out again. 😬
