What utter fools we were last night deciding to turn the heating off when we knew the temperature was going to drop below freezing. This morning, there was no water from the taps – the frost valve had kicked in and dumped all our fresh water so the pipes didn’t freeze 🙄

It’s a long time since I’ve had a wash using a kettle of hot water! Thankfully, our super-duper new all weather tyres carried us off from the iceberg of our own making without any problem and we managed to refill with agua just down the road.

As we were sort of in the area, we decided to visit the Ordesa region – somewhere we’ve wanted to explore since we bought a book on the Pyrenees thirty years ago. It is quite spectacular, especially after the village of Torla. We parked in the solid ice, at the end of the road, along with many others and then went for a very snowy circular walk along the Arazas river. I was a bit reticent at first with my Bambi legs but it wasn’t too bad once we got going. At the top, we finally got a good view of the famous Monte Perdido. At 3355 metres, it’s the third highest summit in the Pyrenees.

Once back at the van, famished, we ate everything in site, then realised it was only 1:30pm – we got up at 7:30 which is so weird for us! Amazing how much you can do if you get up early! 😂

This afternoon we drove towards Huesca and then up to the Castillo de Loarre – Aragón’s most spectacular fortress. A lovely drive on the way up, surrounded by blossom. Had a little walk around the outskirts but getting late so we’ll maybe have a look around tomorrow.
