We thought we were possibly in the quietest car park in the world last night, until about 10:30pm when about thirty school children came down with torches on a treasure hunt!😂

It was really cold this morning – a bit like Nottingham I think, so much so that the secondary duvet has been reinstated for tonight!

We’ve had a very busy day; first we walked up to the top of the town walls so that we could get yet another view of the wonder that is Albarracin. There were some shockingly leaning towers and church spires when you look down from above. Both gasping for breath at the top, we’re at about 1200 metres.

Decided to walk back along the river which is kind of in a gorge that turned out to be quite the adventure playground with its steps, ramps and boardwalks.

After lunch, we drove towards Frias de Albarracin, only because the Rough Guide said it was an interesting drive. It was at first but then just as it started to become a waste of diesel we happened upon El Cañón de los Arcos.

Quite a spectacular place – another gorge with all the bridges, catwalks and steep staircases but a whole different ball game to this morning’s playground. Guy was in his element, I was quietly praying I wouldn’t fall in and trying to hone my non-existent balancing skills! 🙄

Amazingly, we were greeted at the start and finish by some more Spanish Ibex – they were so lovely. Their faces are almost like a deer until you see the horns.

Above us, vultures were circling around – probs waiting for me to fall! When we got back to the van, the long lens and tripod were retrieved so that Guy could zoom in on them. There were far more than we first thought, a lot of young ones were camouflaged against the cliff face.

Now we are back in Albarracin for the night but in the bottom car park. Snow is forecast tonight so we didn’t want to risk sliding down the steep cobbles in the morning.
