Left Magnan mid morning with Whiskey the dog doing everything she could to prevent it. On board were several stowaway shield bugs hiding in the roof vents – we think we’ve hoovered them all up but I’m sure there’ll be at least one ‘Lancaster Bomber’ going over the minute we go to bed.

Headed towards Tarbes then Lourdes and up into the Pyrenees. Stopped for lunch and a little walk in Baréges and then carried on to the Col du Tourmalet. It’s so strange to see these mountains all green rather than covered in snow. Had another walk at the top – had to get the winter jacket out though! After walking twenty minutes along a gravel track, we couldn’t believe how close we were to the Pic du Midi – it seemed like touching distance but 2-3 hours walk in reality.

Picking a convoluted route over to Spain, we are now parked on the Col d’Aspin 1489m. It could get windy overnight and its several degrees cooler than the last few days!
