Mangersta

After a bit of rain this morning, the sun came out and stayed out all day – even took my coat off for a while!

Drove towards Uig beach first, on the recommendation of the man with the alpacas. Missed it. Carried on to Ardroil beach then realised that the two joined together. I’ve never seen such a massive beach – apparently sometimes it can be up to two miles to reach the sea!

Walked a couple of miles until our feet started to get wet then carried on south to see the Mangersta Sea Stacks.

Had to tuck ourselves in to a tiny lay-by to park and have lunch. Then trekked across the headland for spectacular views of the rocks and wild sea below.

Kind of reached the end of the road then – there’s not a lot of roads on Lewis! Turned around then called at Mangersta beach on the way back up. Proper desert island stuff – no one around. Had a bit of a paddle but that water is Baltic. 🥶

Back up the single track until we eventually joined the A road again and turned south.

Parked for the night at Aline Community Woodland Centre. Woodland walk tomorrow before we cross back to Skye late afternoon.
